Region 5 board members are elected to two year terms during each November assembly.

Assemblies are business meetings where our fellowship’s trusted servants (your elected delegates) meet three times a year to conduct Region 5’s business. Intergroups decide who their delegates will be, but you do not have to be an elected delegate to attend. Any member of the OA fellowship can attend, because we love guests. We do ask that all attendees register so they can join us in the Saturday luncheon. Registration forms and assembly agendas are available from your local intergroup.

Assemblies are held during the second weekends of March, July and November. They begin Friday night at
7 pm and end Saturday night by 6 pm. There is entertainment and a speaker meeting from 8:15 pm until whenever we feel like quitting. The Region V Board – trustee, chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary – meets on Sundays.

Assemblies are held at the same hotel each time. Mention Overeaters Anonymous for the special rate.

Some reflections on service work...
You may have heard these phrases around OA: “service is slimming”, “service is the secret”, “I never thought about overeating while I was (insert service action here)”.

What all OA members need to realize is that without service, there would be no OA. If we were to add up all the actions taken to serve the worldwide fellowship that we rely on, whether it is leading meetings, setting up chairs, sending information to change a website, or attending a Regional Assembly, we would find that 99.99% of all actions taken to keep OA “in business” are done for free by members of the fellowship.

If there were no volunteers, there would be no OA. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. Zilch.
