Turning Point Intergroup Turning
Point Intergroup (TPI) is the Twelfth Step in action. All intergroup members
are volunteers and all of the services that we provide are the result of
group conscious decisions made at intergroup meetings. Our only limitation in
serving the Chicago OA Fellowship is the number of volunteers willing and
available to provide their input and time. We
serve approximately 147 meeting groups in the Metropolitan Chicago area:
one-third in the city and the rest in the surrounding metro area. Of these
meetings, 42 are registered with Turning Point Intergroup. Turning
Point is one of five dedicated and hard working intergroups in the immediate
Chicago area that are part of OA’s Region V, which covers fellowships in
Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Southern Ontario,
Canada. Each
group is supposed to have a group representative who attends monthly IG
meetings and brings information back to their groups. But intergroup meetings are not restricted to group
reps. Everyone is invited to attend. As the
Big Book says in Chapter 7, “Practical experience shows that nothing will so
much insure immunity from drinking (overeating) as intensive work with other
alcoholics (overeaters.)” Persons
interested in devoting more time should come to our meetings held at the Queen of Angels Voss Center, 4412 Western Avenue in
Chicago (Western & Montrose). We meet the third Tuesday of
every month, from 6:30—8:00 pm. SOME OF THE THINGS WE DO · Maintain
