Telephone: Dee had four calls, Kathy had two calls and Donna had no calls.
Newsletter: Laura said, “It wasn’t too bad.” Laura suggested a new format for the list of meetings. It is very organized. Everyone liked the layout. We must have permission from WSO to print any material from O.A. Literature in our newsletters. However, we may print articles from Lifeline without permission, just mention the source.
Literature: The OA Brown Book will be completely new and probably won’t be out before October.
Publicity: Nothing new.
Old Business: Intergroup meeting minutes and Treasurer’s report are on the Fort Wayne OA web site. Laura confirmed that $15 is the charge for our answering service. The $39 rate was for the old level of service. Dale has offered to pick up the mail, as we have not seen Bob for a while. We will contact Bob to get the P.O. Box key. We will visit Goshen’s Saturday meeting on August 12, 2000 and Decatur on August 26, 2000. We will try to set up visits to Warsaw and South Bend for September.
New Business: Laura and Dale attended the Region V Assembly on July 21-22. The mission statement for OA is: “By the year 2010 Overeaters Anonymous will be the #1 recognized program for help with the problem of overeating. The finance committee passed a motion for a $600 override for two additional scholarships to the November 2000 Assembly. Two Bylaw amendments were proposed and both were defeated. Article V-Election and Eligibility of Region Reps. – Section C: it was proposed to remove the first two words “Whenever possible”. Present wording: Whenever possible Region Reps and Alternates shall have one year of current abstinence upon submitting their qualifications. This statement will remain unchanged.
The second proposed change was Article X – Section A – Meetings. It was proposed to change meetings to only two assemblies per year. The Region Assemblies will remain at three per year.
Region V convention is October 13,14 & 15, 2000. Registration forms are available. Convention pins are $4.00. There will be no raffles by individual groups allowed.
A Proposal must be made if Region V Assemblies are to remain in Fort Wayne.
Groups are asked to donate theme baskets valued at approximately $25 for raffle at convention.
There was some discussion about insurance for our groups. This subject was unresolved.
The Board of Trustees were instructed by business meeting to put together food plans for a pamphlet.
Three Rivers Intergroup is in charge of the Boutique at the convention. We are requesting that the boutique be closed during the meetings.
We closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
Respectfully Submitted – Mimi (Secretary)
